Verde Lepanto
The close-up view of each stone type shows a relatively true image of the crystalline structure and the colouring. This is suitable for grained slabs to a limited extend only. In regard to the colour matching, please take an original sample of the stone from your furniture store as a basis.
Petrography
The dark green components consist of serpentinite. The rock was subjected to strong stresses in the earth's crust, which led to numerous fractures. The resulting cavities were filled with calcite over time and “healed”.
Petrogenesis
Rocks of this type are formed under high pressures and temperatures, as they occurwithin the earth's crust during the folding of mountains. Magnesium-rich igneous rocks such as peridotite were transformed in this process. In some places these are still contained as a relict in the form of black, fine crystalline inclusions.
