Avalanche do Brasil
The close-up view of each stone type shows a relatively true image of the crystalline structure and the colouring. This is suitable for grained slabs to a limited extend only. In regard to the colour matching, please take an original sample of the stone from your furniture store as a basis.
Petrography
The main mineral is fine to medium-grain calcite. In irregular positions and streaks there are significant amounts of mica embedded in them, which create a subtle glitter effect. Small, shiny gold pyrite grains are just visible to the naked eye.
Petrogenesis
Over a billion years ago, thick layers of clayey lime mud were deposited in a shallow section of the sea. As a result of the pressure of overlying layers and the collision of earth's crustal plates, which led to the folding of a mountain range, high pressures and temperatures affected the limestone. That's when it came to metamorphosis. The clayey components gave rise to mica, which is now present in crystalline form together with calcite.
