Calacatta Curitaba
The close-up view of each stone type shows a relatively true image of the crystalline structure and the colouring. This is suitable for grained slabs to a limited extend only. In regard to the colour matching, please take an original sample of the stone from your furniture store as a basis.
Petrography
The rock consists mainly of the mineral dolomite, a calcium-magnesium carbonate. The very light pink base mass is finely crystalline. Larger dolomite crystals are found in the light gray grain, which are probably former fossil structures.
Petrogenesis
Dolomite marbles belong to the class of metamorphites. Original limestone deposits in a shallow primordial sea were formed over time to solid rock. During a phase of mountain folding, high pressures were present and high temperatures, which led to the now visible crystalline structure.
