Costarica

The close-up view of each stone type shows a relatively true image of the crystalline structure and the colouring. This is suitable for grained slabs to a limited extend only. In regard to the colour matching, please take an original sample of the stone from your furniture store as a basis.

Petrography

The basic structure consists of feldspar and quartz. In between there are fine, black scales of biotite mica in an uneven distribution. Decorative, more or less fine veins of green epidote run through the rock.

Petrogenesis

Cataclasites are formed at fault zones in the earth's crust. Tectonic forces lead to  fractures in the rock. Here the original granite was sometimes intensively ground and sheared by the movement and pressure. After the crustal movements subsided, the rock healed deeper again and regained its previous strength.
