Forest Green

The close-up view of each stone type shows a relatively true image of the crystalline structure and the colouring. This is suitable for grained slabs to a limited extend only. In regard to the colour matching, please take an original sample of the stone from your furniture store as a basis.

Petrography

A net of dark-grey and almost white calcite veins is imbedded in the green basic colour of the serpentinite.

Petrogenesis

Serpentinite was generated from olivine-rich magma rocks in the lower areas of the earth's crust under high pressures and temperatures. The green mineral olivine and other magnesium-rich dark silicates are in this way converted into serpentine. The name serpentine has been taken from the Latin "Serpent" = "snake". Apparently, the smooth fracture faces of this interesting stone feels like snake skin.
