Stonewood
The close-up view of each stone type shows a relatively true image of the crystalline structure and the colouring. This is suitable for grained slabs to a limited extend only. In regard to the colour matching, please take an original sample of the stone from your furniture store as a basis.
Petrography
This is a mixture of fine feldspar crystals and some quartz. Brown iron hydroxide limonite criss-crosses the rock in concentric rings, in more or less strong concentration. Fine branched out, dark structures occur here and there in the optically very changeable material reminding of "fossil moss? and they are called dendrite. These are manganese or solutions having entered by capillary, they are therefore not fossils.
Petrogenesis
Probably generated from former volcanic ashes. This was compressed and later on converted by metamorphosis.
