Venice Black
The close-up view of each stone type shows a relatively true image of the crystalline structure and the colouring. This is suitable for grained slabs to a limited extend only. In regard to the colour matching, please take an original sample of the stone from your furniture store as a basis.
Petrography
Highly microcrystalline marble. Under the microscope, dark particles of graphite can be detected between the fine, mostly transparent calcite crystalls. The red hematite is mainly embedded along the posterior tectonic fractures. However, the veins partly consist of colored reactive resins which can easily be distinguished by inclining the head when looking over the polished surface.
Petrogenesis
The marble was generated from former lime deposits. These sediments were exposed to high pressure and temperature during orogenesis. During the folding-up of the mountains, the originally horizontal layers were subject to heavy movements and therefore show an impressive decor.
